“Bottom line: There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature
adult content.”
This? In particular? Pisses me off. I hate it.
I hate the implication that all porn is interchangeable and devoid of cultural value, so it’s no big deal when a decade’s worth of creative endeavor produced by a vibrant subculture is destroyed, because, whatever, it’s just dirty pictures.
I hate the disingenuous inability to see a distinction between a website that is about porn only, and a website that allows people to blog about all of their interests and aspects of their lives including sex and porn because those are normal parts of the human experience.
It’s the most tone-deaf bullshit.
BLESS THIS. This is the attitude that had me climb the curtains the highest. It horrifies me how strong it remains in 2019. Sex isn’t supposed to be kept hidden in the basement as if it’s an unspeakable monstrosity. Hatred and fear of sexuality is hatred and fear of humanity.
Anyone else grew up hearing about LGBT+ people in the abstract so you thought “oh gay people are so rare I’ll never know any of them” then you grow up and oops,
I have a family friend who worked at our local Salvation Army headquarters as a a secretary. This particular office took all the Christmas donations for children in need, put them in a warehouse, and on a designated day the staff and their friends picked through them all, taking whatever they wanted. She saw people hauling away bikes donated for specific families. Some local children had hundreds of dollars of gifts donated in their name, and on Christmas they received three cheap things, items likely not even from the person who sponsored them.
My friend quit, and I’ve not given them a dime of my money since then.
